What is Reiki?
Dr. Mikao Usui was the founder of Reiki back in the 1900s and was a 19th Century scholar who earned a doctorate of theology at the University of Chicago, and he was also a Buddhist Monk.
Reiki (Ray-key) is a Japanese technique often used for the reduction in stress with offering relaxation.
The word Reiki is two Japanese words with Rei meaning “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki meaning “life force energy."
What amazes me is that we all are made up of energy, and when someone is being attuned to Reiki by a Reiki Master, this energy will literally flow from the Reiki Practitioner to the one receiving. The Reiki energy is always a positive experience, and the Reiki energy will go where it is needed in the body so that the practitioner has no control over where it goes.
Reiki is what some might refer to as a holistic alternative that can be used for chronic issues, headache, rejuvenation or total stress relief.
Reiki has become extremely popular in hospitals across the country and abroad. Much of this information including actual research can be found on Reiki.org
Reiki is not a religion, and that being said, most practitioners will admit that having the ability to offer Reiki Healing Energy is a spiritual experience. You don't need to believe in the energy working for it to work and be a positive experience.
